Project name: Primary Oral Health Care Project (POHC) for Hammanskraal Project leader: Professor Flip van Wyk (pjvanwyk@medic.up.ac.za) Locality: Hammanskraal, Gauteng Purpose of project: Students render a community-based service according to the principles of Primary Oral Health Care (POHC). The mobile Oral Health Care Unit is being utilised in this project. Both Oral Hygiene and Dental students are involved with the purpose of exposing students to the oral health needs of the community. This project also contains a community-based training component. |

Project name: NGWENYAGLASS Mail: ngwenya@gwenyaglass.co.sz Locality: Kingdom of Swaziland, Motshane Purpose of project: Not only are the people of Swaziland encouraged to collect the bottles, but Ngwenya Glass works with the local schools to instill in the children a sense of environmental awareness. In exchange for building materials and the sponsorship of the soccer team, the students must participate in roadside clean-up campaigns. Each pruduct handmade from 100 % recycled glass! |
